Empowered Minds Tutoring provides personalized, high-quality tutoring to help middle school, high school, and college students develop confidence and find success during their academic pursuits in the classroom and on standardized tests.
Philosophy
I believe that learning happens through relationships and that the knowledge increases much more dramatically when students are not simply given the answers, but instead are empowered to discover the answers themselves.
To this end, Empowered Minds Tutoring uses teaching and tutoring techniques that employ scaffolding and guided questions to help students understand how to approach a new question or concept as a series of smaller questions building on what they already know. In addition, because questions are where deep learning takes place, I also focus on building strong relationships with clients to ensure that the students I work with feel comfortable asking any questions they have – and feel confident in my ability to answer them coherently and comprehensively while treating them with respect and dignity.
